Sacred Concert - Brahm’s A German Requiem, March 18, 2012
Concert Time: 7:00 PM. Performance is at the Armstrong Theater, Torrance, CA.
This appealing, large-scale masterpiece for choir, orchestra and soloists was originally composed in German, based on texts from the Lutheran Bible. Brahms’ intent was to make this Requiem not a mourning for the dead, but a consolation for the living. The rich choral movements with their lyrical themes and contrapuntal writing evoke a profound emotional and spiritual experience – which, performed in English, will leave our audience in a resolved and uplifted state of mind.

These performances are supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
