“Everything I managed to entertain by way of religious illusion I put into my requiem,” says Gabriel Fauré of his master work, “which moreover is dominated from beginning to end by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest.” Contrary to how others may interpret a Requiem Mass, he said, “I see death as a happy deliverance, an aspiration towards happiness above, rather than a painful experience.” LC will perform this beloved and ethereal work accompanied by a professional orchestra and soloists.
These performances are supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.
