Music can transport you, and that is just one of its many blessings. If we focus on “imagination,” the musical possibilities become endless. Love songs, hopeful songs, utopian songs, other-world songs, they all are wonderful places to explore. Join us for an evening of musical imagining.
Tis the season for celebration, whether it be music from the 18th century, the 19th, the 20th, or jazzy setting from the 21st century. We are thrilled to share the stage with renowned tenor Aaron Blake once again, as well as our traditional carol sing, CPE Bach’s “Magnificat”, the Chilcott “A Little Jazz Mass,” and other seasonal favorites.
Handel, Haydn and Saint-Saens are no longer with us, but they left us with some glorious music. We will sing one of Handel’s coronation anthems, a uniquely descriptive piece by Haydn, and movements from Saint-Saens’ “Requiem.” Living composer, Dan Forrest, composed a “Requiem for the Living” which is now one of the most frequently performed works.
The English have a wealth of amazing composers and lyricists who have graced us with beautiful music and entertaining shows. We will present some of the best from Gilbert & Sullivan, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Lennon & McCartney. We’ll include a few lesser known gems from our British friends as well.
