It never snows in Southern California, so for our holiday season we want it to snow music. From Elgar’s “Christmas Greeting,” special Christmas works by Wells and Petker, to a medley of secular carols, all with splendid orchestral accompaniment, we offer all the sounds of the season to keep you warm and cheery.

THE HEART OF AMERICA

America is made with the hearts of its inhabitants, and its passion and depth is complex and wonderful. This concert celebrates its beauty in music, and the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, with Kirchner’s Three American Songs, Argentinian/American composer Ariel Quintana’s “Mass from Two Worlds,” and the “American Mass” by California’s own Ron Kean, which features American hymns interwoven into newly composed music and the ancient Liturgy of the Mass.

CELEBRATING HOPE

Rosephanye Powell is one of the most celebrated African America composers of choral music.  She will be our artist in-residence, sharing her voice and music, including the recently commissioned “Cry of Jeremiah.”  Duke Ellington surprised and stunned us all with his “Sacred Concerts” and we will relive that experience together.
